Ebenezer Baptist is the oldest African-American church in the City of Virginia Beach. We are highly favored to have Reverend R. Perez Gatling as our pastor. Each year, the members of Ebenezer Baptist Church award three scholarships to college bound, graduating seniors from the Hampton Roads area who meet the criteria set forth by the members of the church.

The Scholarship Ministry of Ebenezer Baptist Church seeks financial support. We pray that you will make a difference by sowing a financial seed that will enable our church to increase the  number of yearly scholarships and enrichment programs for our young people.

Our mission at Ebenezer Baptist Church is to Serve, Teach, Educate, Equip, and Love. The dynamics of this broad vision involve strengthening, educating, and equipping people from diverse backgrounds. Our advocacy for our young people in our community includes (but is not limited to):

  • Providing information on Virginia Beach City Public Schools’ academy programs, encouraging students to apply, and assisting students who seek to apply;

  • Providing students the opportunity to attend cultural events like the Virginia International Tattoo, the Black Nativity, the Lion King, various youth conferences in the area, and numerous other events, such as jazz performances;

  • Sponsoring and attending workshops and events related to public speaking, essay/resume writing, self-esteem, social media safety, financial aid, college admissions, and entrepreneurship;

  • Sponsoring college tours; and

  • Mentoring young men and young ladies in the community.

Some of our scholarship recipients have gone on to attend such institutions of higher learning as Cornell University, George Mason University, Spelman College, Norfolk State University, Tidewater Community College, and Virginia Tech.

It is our sincere desire and our fervent prayer that you will find it in your heart to make an investment in the future of our community, our city, our state, and our great nation. You may contact us at scholarships@ebcvaworship.org for more information. We thank you in advance for making a difference in the lives of the young people in our community and Hampton Roads!
